Righting The Wrong through Social Justice: Gender, Race and Immigration 

This Salon featured our first ever mother-daughter storyteller pair: Geeta Rao Gupta, Executive Director of the 3D Program for Girls and Women and Senior Fellow at the United Nations Foundation, and Nayna Gupta, an Immigration Defense Attorney at the Immigration Representation Unit of the Alameda County Public Defender's Office, California, who represents low-income individuals facing deportation in immigration and federal courts.

Geeta is a life long social justice advocate and has held major positions including president of the International Centre for Research on Women (ICRW), Deputy Executive Director at UNICEF and senior fellow at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She has PhD in Social Psychology.

Nayna  has worked for three years as a staff attorney and Racial Justice Fellow with the ACLU of Northern California and prior to that she spent one year in Montgomery, Alabama as a judicial law clerk to federal district court judge Honorable Myron H. Thompson. Nayna received her B.A. 2007 in History and Political Science, with a concentration on the Middle East, and received a J.D. from Stanford Law School in 2013.
